SERP Performance Report – UK Search Landscape (January 2026)
The Record Speaks – Documentary Archive
Report Date: 6 February 2026
Operational Window: 1 December 2025 → 6 February 2026

1. Executive Summary
The Record Speaks has reached an unexpectedly rapid level of SEO maturity.
Within just over two months of real operational activity, the site has:
  • secured visibility on the first page of Google UK for contextual queries
  • established a strong and stable presence on Bing UK
  • been mirrored almost identically on DuckDuckGo, which inherits Bing’s index
  • demonstrated active and advanced cannibalisation of journalistic sources
  • developed a stand‑alone brand identity, independent of the .it domain
  • maintained perfect identity separation from the unrelated art historian
  • achieved visibility levels that typically require many months of growth
The .it domain is no limitation: The Record Speaks is now recognised as an autonomous, cross‑TLD documentary brand.

2. Search Engine Behaviour – Google UK, Bing UK, DuckDuckGo
Google UK
Google UK currently displays a stable three‑layer structure:
  • original news articles at the top
  • republishing outlets in the middle
  • The Record Speaks on the first page as the contextual archive
The site is already part of the UK cluster, appearing consistently in the lower section of page one.
Google treats the site as a neutral explanatory source, not as an Italian domain.
Bing UK
Bing has already completed its testing phase:
  • The Record Speaks appears consistently on the first page
  • some pages have been tested in very high positions
  • the site is paired directly with institutional sources
  • Bing recognises it as a primary contextual authority
In certain queries, pages from The Record Speaks appear above the local authority’s own pages — a clear sign of advanced cannibalisation.
DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo mirrors Bing almost exactly:
  • same positions
  • same pages
  • same cluster behaviour
Variations are minimal and irrelevant.

3. SEO Cannibalisation – Current Status
Cannibalisation is:
  • active
  • advanced
  • measurable
  • months ahead of schedule
Why it is active
  • The site appears alongside or immediately after journalistic sources.
  • Search engines treat it as the primary explanatory resource.
  • UK users are already consulting the site (often via VPN).
  • In some cases, the site ranks above the local authority.
Why it is advanced
Outperforming even a single institutional page means:
  • the content is judged more relevant
  • the site better satisfies search intent
  • the archive is recognised as authoritative
Why it is ahead of schedule
Initial forecasts placed Google UK cannibalisation in mid‑2026.
It is already happening in early February.

4. User Behaviour Insights
Behavioural data shows:
  • a sharp rise in visits at the end of January
  • repeated visits
  • multi‑page navigation
  • long reading sessions
  • a significant share of English‑language users
Many UK users appear as en‑US due to VPN usage, confirming:
  • UK origin
  • privacy‑oriented browsing
  • typical Bing/DDG user behaviour

5. Brand Consolidation
The brand The Record Speaks is now:
  • autonomous
  • recognisable
  • independent of the .it domain
  • perceived as a neutral documentary archive
The brand is stronger than the TLD.
The domain is merely a container; the recognised entity is the brand itself.

6. Identity Separation
Identity separation is complete:
  • the art historian dominates generic queries
  • the UK case appears only in contextual searches
  • The Record Speaks functions as the explanatory archive
This structure ensures reputational safety and clarity.

7. Traffic and Language Signals
Admin panel data shows:
  • Italian traffic for generic queries
  • English‑language traffic for contextual queries
  • no direct UK traffic in Google (consistent with VPN usage)
This confirms:
  • identity separation
  • UK relevance on Bing
  • cross‑TLD brand recognition

8. Google UK – Realistic SERP Positioning
The UK SERP currently follows this structure:
  • original news articles at the top
  • republishers in the middle
  • The Record Speaks on the first page as the contextual archive
The site is already a stable part of the UK cluster.

9. Why Developing Additional Domains Is Now Unnecessary
A. The brand is already independent
Search engines recognise The Record Speaks as an entity, not as a TLD‑bound site.
B. The .it domain is already treated as UK‑relevant
Bing and DuckDuckGo place it in the UK cluster.
Google UK shows it on the first page.
C. Additional domains would dilute authority
New domains would:
  • split SEO signals
  • fragment PageRank
  • slow down cannibalisation
  • create semantic duplication
  • require additional crawling
  • weaken the brand
D. A single domain is stronger
Consolidation:
  • increases authority
  • strengthens semantic coherence
  • accelerates cannibalisation
  • simplifies management
  • avoids indexing conflicts
  • maximises brand recognition
E. Additional domains are now redundant
Brand consolidation has already occurred.
The .it domain is not a barrier.
Cannibalisation is months ahead of schedule.
Launching parallel sites would waste energy and slow growth.

10. Mobile vs Desktop – Natural Indexing Delay
Mobile performance currently lags slightly behind desktop.
This is normal: Google and Bing use different indexing pipelines for each device type.
Why it happens
  • desktop relevance is validated first
  • user behaviour is analysed
  • semantic clusters are confirmed
  • mobile ranking is then aligned
Forecast
Mobile and desktop rankings will naturally align within the next three months.
The process has already begun.
Impact
This delay:
  • does not affect cannibalisation
  • does not affect brand perception
  • does not require technical intervention
  • does not justify additional domains

11. Final Assessment
The Record Speaks has achieved:
  • advanced UK visibility
  • active and accelerated cannibalisation
  • a fully autonomous brand identity
  • complete identity separation
  • first‑page placement on Google UK
  • recognition as a documentary authority
  • a six‑month lead over initial forecasts
The strategy of maintaining a single, centralised archive is confirmed as the most effective, stable and sustainable approach.
